Department Overview

Established in 1998, the Department of Humanities and Science plays a vital role in supporting all B.E. and B.Tech programmes by providing a strong foundation in Mathematics, Basic Sciences, Communication, and Soft Skills. As part of the broader Humanities and Social Sciences domain, the department emphasizes core engineering fundamentals, ethical reasoning, and sustainable practices.

With a team of 23 experienced faculty members, including experts in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and related fields, the department enriches the learning experience through workshops, conferences, and guest lectures. Students are guided to understand the significance of science, technology, human values, and analytical thinking, preparing them to become responsible professionals.

The department equips students with problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, teamwork, and communication skills essential for academic and career success, while fostering a lifelong learning, innovation, and research mindset.

Dr. Jennifer G Joseph

Professor and Head

At the Department of Humanities and Sciences, Dr. Jennifer leads with a strong commitment to academic innovation and student-centered learning. With a Ph.D. in English Literature and over 23 years of experience, she brings expertise in ELT, Feminism, and Indian Writing. Under her guidance, the department has launched impactful programmes and language labs, while also nurturing research and soft skills development. Passionate about holistic education, she actively supports student growth through cultural initiatives, hostel mentorship, and women’s safety awareness.

The MATHMAGIK organizes Quiz Programs, Objective Tests, Mathematical Model Competitions, and Slide Show Presentations. Eminent mathematicians are invited to address the students on recent developments and classical discoveries in Mathematics, along with its diverse applications in various Engineering disciplines.

ENG-CAFE
