Office of Research
The Office of Research is functioning to implement the VMRF-DU strategic plan by nurturing and promoting interdisciplinary research culture and encouraging collaborations at national and international level to achieve the highest ethical standards in research.
This office is the point of contact for the following issues:
Preparation and submission of research proposals.
Provide guidance and to Identify the source of funding from different funding agencies.
Provide guidance for initiating inter-disciplinary university research programmes and formation of research units within the VMRF-DU institutions.
Periodic review of research activities.
Review of proposals submitted by the PIs.
Complaints pertaining to research misconduct.
To address research grievances.
Dr. S.A.V. Satya Murty
Director Research - VMRF
Dr. S.A.V Satya Murty is currently working as Director Research in Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (A Deemed to be University). Prior to joining VMRF, Dr. Satya Murty worked as Distinguished Scientist & Director of Indira Gandhi Centre of Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, the second largest R&D institute of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Prior to that he held various senior Positions in IGCAR and has an excellent R&D career. Subsequent to his superannuation, he held Raja Ramanna Fellowship for two years.
Dr. Satya Murty had a distinguished academic career. He did his B.Tech from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and was awarded Gold Medal for getting University First Rank. Subsequently he did one year Orientation Course in Nuclear Science & Technology at the training school of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and was awarded Homi Bhabha Award for getting First Rank. He did his Ph.D from Homi Bhabha National Institute.
He has more than 200 Publications in peer reviewed Journals and international & national conferences, Four book chapters, many design reports etc. He is the Editor of Two International Journals and one national journal.
Dr. Satya Murty was conferred many awards including INS Outstanding Service Award 2011 from Indian Nuclear Society in the category of Nuclear Reactor Technology including Reactor Safety, Group Achievement award as Group Leader in the years 2011, 2012, 2014 from DAE, Life Time Achievement Award by Institute of Engineers (Kalpakkam Chapter) in the year 2016.
Dr. R. Jaichandran
DEPUTY DIRECTOR RESEARCH, VMRF
Dr. R. Jaichandran is working as a Deputy Director Research of VMRF- Deemed to be University & Professor in the department of Computer Science Engineering, Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology. He has 13 years of experience in academics, research, and development activities. His area of interest includes Wireless Sensor Networks, Internet of Things (IoT), Ethical Hacking, Big data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, etc.,
Published 33 research papers in referred Journals and Conferences. Delivered 33 Special lecturers in various reputed organizations in topics like Ethical Hacking, Big data Analysis, Internet of Things (IOT), Cloud Computing, Networking etc,. Attended 55 Seminars/Workshops/Faculty development programs conducted by various reputed Organizations. Received Project grants from reputed organizations like Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, and Computer Society of India.
He is also Peer Review member in various reputed international journals and Conferences. Many of his research papers have international citations. Received TESFA-2017-Best Researcher Award (Award Received from Honorable Chief Minister of Pondicherry Thiru V. Narayanasamy).
Awarded A+ Grade in Infosys Campus Connect Program. Project guided by him is selected as Regional Winner (South Zone) in AICTE-ECI-ISTE Chhatra Vishwakarma Award 2018. Won Best Project Award in VISAI 2013 – 3rd International Project Competition and Exhibition He is a recognized supervisor for Ph.D Program in computer science & engineering in VMRF. Guiding Ph.D students in emerging areas of computer science and engineering. Member in following professional societies: International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT),Association of Computer Electronics and Electrical Engineering (ACEEE),International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Computer Society of India (CSI),Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE),Cyber Society of India.
Dr. S. Prakash
Research Coordinator and Associate Professor
Dr. S. Prakash, B.E., M.E., MISTE., Ph.D., is working as Research Coordinator and Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology. He has over 15 years of academic experience and 3 years of industrial experience, with expertise in teaching, research, innovation, academic leadership and industry-oriented project development.
His research interests include biodiesel applications in internal combustion engines, combustion analysis, thermal barrier coatings, computational fluid dynamics, optimization techniques, additive manufacturing, finite element analysis and thermal energy systems. He has published 106 Scopus-indexed research papers with an H-index of 15, authored one textbook, contributed one international book chapter and holds 10 patents, including granted design and innovation patents.
He has also successfully coordinated and received funded research projects and academic grants, including AICTE ATAL FDP funding and multiple seed money projects for engine research, energy conservation and electric vehicle development. He has organized and coordinated several national and international workshops, conferences, faculty development programmes, technical symposiums and project expos in emerging areas of Mechanical Engineering.
He has delivered invited lectures, expert talks and keynote sessions in faculty development programmes and technical events on topics such as parametric design, topology optimization, intellectual property rights, finite element modelling and research methodology. He has also served as session chair and chief guest resource person in academic programmes conducted by various engineering institutions.
Dr. S. Prakash is an active reviewer for reputed international journals, including journals published by Elsevier, Springer Nature, MDPI and Taylor & Francis. His reviewing contributions include journals in energy, materials, sustainability and mechanical engineering research.
He has completed 19 NPTEL/SWAYAM certification courses from premier institutions including Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and other IITs and has received recognitions such as NPTEL Discipline Star, NPTEL Motivated Learner and Best Mentor Award.
He has received several honors including the James Watt Inspiring International Education & Research Excellence Award, Best Technology & Design Professor Award, Young Researcher Award and institutional awards for teaching innovation and research excellence.
He is a professional member of Indian Society for Technical Education, International Association of Engineers and Institute of Scholars and actively contributes to research mentoring, innovation promotion and academic development.
