Dr.S.P.Sangeetha is Vice Principal Academics and Professor in Department of Civil Engineering. She has been associated with AVIT since 2011 and has served in various academic and administrative roles. She is also the Program Director for Institutional Social Responsibility cell and convener for Women Empowerment Cell. She has good organizational skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills. She has organized several National and International conferences, workshops, guest lectures, and seminars for the students and faculty. She regularly organizes skill development workshops for creating self employment opportunities especially for the rural women. She is the Chairperson for Civil Engineering Board,VMRF. She is an active member in Professional societies like American Concrete Institute, ISTE, IAENG,ACCE,Chennai Civil Engineers Association, Tamilnadu Construction Engineers and contractors Association, etc. She has also wide network with many construction Industries like Enrich Designs, JK cements, Dalmia Cements Ramco,Vijaya Prakash Housing,Sri Janani homes ,etc. She regularly meets school children and provides career guidance.

Qualification and Research Interests

She is a Civil Engineer mastered in Structural Engineering. She has completed her Ph.D in Concrete Technology. Her areas of research interests are Concrete Technology, Design of Structures, Rehabilitation of concrete structures and Sustainable construction. She has also submitted several Research project proposals to various funding agencies and received funding from Tamilnadu council for Science and Technology and AICTE. She has delivered Technical lectures in various Institutions and Industries. She has published a text book on “Basic Civil and Mechanical Engineering and authored several book chapters. She has published and granted several patents. She has authored more than 50 Research articles indexed by Scopus, Web of Science and peer reviewed Journals.

She has received several awards towards on account of her leadership and Educational excellence, to mention few:“Education Leadership Award 2022” from Glantor X pvt.Ltd; “VMRF Women Leadership awards 2021” from VMRF ;“Young Dynamic Woman Performer of the year -2020”, from Global Awards, “Manitha Neyam Award– 2020” from Alaigal foundations for the services carried out in villages during COVID -19;Academic Leadership Award” from International Glad Heads up awards 2021;“South Indian Women Achiever Award-2019” ; “Best Teaching Faculty Award” from DKIRF ;Recognition faculty Award” twice from Rotary club (2019 &2020) and Best Faculty Coordinator Award in 2021&2022. She has received recognition certificate as NEP Ambassador from Government of India.She is a lead auditor recognized by “Nature Science Foundations. She is as reviewer in many Journals and served in the Advisory/Technical Committee during National and International Conferences. She has been selected as a subject expert in “Student Learning Assessment Preparation (SLAP) under AICTE. She has also served as an evaluator for Toycathon and smart India Hackathons organised by Government of India.
