Qualification

Dr. A. NIRMALA, joined as a lecture in 2008. Later, she was promoted to Assistant Professor (Gr-II), and she is currently working as Associate Professor and Head in the Department of Biotechnology, Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Chennai. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from the University of Madras, Chennai, in 2018, a Master of Philosophy from the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore, Gold Medalist in the Master degree achieved from Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gandhigram, undergraduate from Madurai Kamaraj University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics obtained from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore.

Awards and Recognitions

She is a recipient of a TICA fellowship and attended a one-month training program on “Tropical Medicine, Community Health Care and Research”, Khon Kaen University, Khon Kaen, Thailand, funded by the Thai Government. She received funds from the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST).

Publications

She has 17 years of experience. She has published 5 book chapters, 25 papers in various national and international journals, presented scientific papers at national / international conferences, and also attended more than 200 webinars in the area of biotechnology and bioscience. She is a doctoral committee member at Veltech University, Chennai. Her area of research includes diabetes mellitus, biochemical studies, medicinal plants, and phytochemical analysis. She is a member of various professional societies like the Society for Biotechnologists, Life Member of the Indian Science Congress Association, Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education, Life Member in the International Association of Engineers and a Life member of the Institute for Science, Engineering and Technology Research. She has coordinated many guest lectures, seminars, national and international conferences. She is proficiently motivating the students to participate in seminars, national and international conferences and idea submissions in hackathons.
