The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1998. The Department offers Full time undergraduate course in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. The Department also offers part-time under graduate course in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a post graduate course in Power System Engineering.
The Department has been organizing a cascade of seminars, guest lectures, workshops, symposia, conferences, industrial visits, in-plant training, inter collegiate programmes from time to time for the benefit of the faculty members and students through its Technical Association – EEESA (Electrical and Electronics Engineering Student Association) and professional bodies like the IEEE Power and Energy Society , IEI . The Department also coordinates the IEEE Student Branch with students of all the branches as its members. The thrust area of research of the department is Renewable Energy, Power Electronics and Drives Control, Power system and automation. The department has Centre of Excellence for Solar Energy. The Department also take cares of the operation and maintenance of 126 kWp Grid Connected Solar Power Plant which supplies around 600 Units per day.
The Department has signed a MoU with many leading industrial firms for the benefit of the faculty, student’s project work and in-plant training. . The Faculty Members are well qualified with inherent experience in both teaching and research. The department has received the fund of Rs.1,50,000 from Ministry of New Renewable Energy Sources (MNRE) for National Conference on Emerging Trends in New Renewable Energy Sources .A project proposal titled “Preventive Women’s Safety App for location based alerting” worth Rs. 13,22,520 was approved under the scheme of Science and Technology for women(DST). A fund of Rs.1,00,000 was sanctioned to the department from Unnat Bharat Abhiyan ,Ministry of Human Resource Development for Mobile Reverse osmosis based water purification system using Solar PV source for rural India. Also a fund of Rs.50,000 was received from Unnat Bharat Abhiyan , Ministry of Human Resource Development for DC Micro Grid based Solar PV generation to supply power to street lamp and common utilities in a village.
Our University appreciated us for developing the Nursing Robot named V2Buddy in association with Ganesan Innovation and Entrepreneur Cell with the student team for assisting Doctors and Nurses especially for the corona isolation wards. The students were mentored in preparing three Nursing Robots and we also got appreciation from the Chief Minister, Pondicherry and also from Director, Govt. Hospital, Chennai and Dean, AVMC during the delivery of Robots. Students procured various awards in the National and International Events organised by IISER,MHRD,IITM,UPES ,AICTE,NIC , IEI,IEEE , ISTE ,etc.,
